Stone, De Witt Clinton

Originally from Galveston, TX, De Witt Clinton Stone (1825-1884) entered the University in 1841, was a member of the Philanthropic Society, and graduated in 1845. A lawyer and broker, Stone received an MA in 1849 and served as a trustee from 1858 to 1868. He returned to Galveston, where he became president of the city's cotton exchange and eventually mayor.
